Professor Brockbank is a Clinical Professor of Business and the Co-Director of Human Resource Education at the Ross School of Business of the University of Michigan. Three of the school’s executive programmes are rated as the best HR programmes in the United States and Europe by the Wall Street Journal and Business Week.
His research interests include the relationship of human resource strategies and practices with business performance, competencies of human resource professionals, linkages between human resource practices and business strategies, processes for defining and practices for creating competitive corporate cultures, information dissemination and responsiveness to turbulence in the business environment, accelerating the pace of change through institutional practices, and leveraging organisational capabilities for competitive advantage. He is widely published in prominent publications and has contributed numerous book chapters.
Professor Brockbank has consulted with corporations on every continent. His clients include Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, General Electric, Cathay Pacific Airways, Unilever, Motorola, Harley-Davidson, Citicorp, Ericsson, Cisco, General Motors, Saudi Aramco, Xerox, Dow Corning, Abbott Laboratories, Coca Cola, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs, Ford, and Hewlett-Packard.
Professor Brockbank is co-author of the newly-released HR Value Proposition book and co-directs the Strategic Human Resource Leadership Center, which focuses on best and next practices and leading-edge thinking to help HR professionals gain the necessary skills and knowledge to keep their organisations ahead of the competition.
He completed his Ph.D. at UCLA, where he specialised in business policy and strategy, organisation theory, and international business. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Organisational Behavior from Brigham Young University.
